SAN CLEMENTE -- A San Clemente man was convicted Friday of vandalizing his apartment complex and then killing a dog by slamming its head against a sidewalk numerous times.
Bayron Reyes Lopez, 26, pleaded guilty to one felony count of animal cruelty and one felony count of vandalism.
He was sentenced to one year in jail and three years of formal probation. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on Reyes, who is expected to be deported to Mexico after he completes his sentence.
